cal farley coliseum

Fcuk I have so much to catch up on this week. Guh. But the timeapos;s been well spent so in the end itapos;s worth it.

Today I spent the day around town shopping for halloween goodies and extras for my costumes. I think Iapos;m going zombie for the big shebang Halloween night and then Supergirl for Emmyapos;s superhero themed mystery dinner the following day.

Babz and her boif are freaking hilarious. Driving around and around and fooling around inside stores was a blast. Minus when they kept trying to scare me with all the masks around of the killer dude I have a fear of. That I could have left out but it was just a joke so I laughed it off. I wasnapos;t really thinking much about it considering I was too busy trying to make up my mind about stuff I wanted to get for my costume.

Wednesday, Babz wants to have a drunk sesh at my house with Eb but Iapos;m not sure how that will go.

Thursday, M wants to do something, possibly shopping for him since heapos;s way behind in that area.

And Friday Saw V is out in theatres.

Iapos;ll expand more later.

I was feeling very sad last night but I feel a bit better this morning...this is despite being awake half the night and unable to shut my brain up. Stoopid brane.

So far today I have:
- taken my new boots to get some non-slip soles put on them which means I can wear them tonight
- been to Waitrose
- filed some stuff and found my desk so I can work at it

Next I need to make some lunch and then I can get stuck into the studying in earnest. Procrastinating? Me? You should know me better than that...

I never knew just how well warm salt water works on a canker soreO_o. I accidently ran my toothbrush into my gum last week and a canker sore developed there. It was fine for a while, but then it started hurting insanely. All of the Orabase in the house was expired and for some reason, itapos;s NEVER at the store. So, I got some warm water and salt and it immediately stopped hurtingO_o. I think I did that yesterday...and itapos;s completely gone todayXD Crazy...

Yes. I am easily amused.

In other news...
Iapos;m drawing a pic of my OC Xefin^^ AND Iapos;m actually including a background-ish type thing^^ A tree and some grass. If youapos;ve seen my drawings before, youapos;ll notice a lack of background in pretty much all of them. Or...anything disconnected from the character in general. So this time, I got a mini spark of inspiration and I think itapos;s working pretty well. I kind of regret detailing leaves because now I have to draw more of them...and I drew some really tiny leaves, but if I can make them fade into a mass properly, it should be all right.

So I watched the final round of debates last night, even though I originally planned to skip out.

They were actually pretty good.

In terms of being well spoken, Obama did the better job, though I often disagreed with a number of his points. McCain, well, he had a lot of good points, but the problem was he didnapos;t word them properly. Firstly, God dammit, stop talking about Joe the Plumber. I got what you meant, now stop beating it to death. Second, BAD choice saying "pro-abortionists" when discussing Roe v. Wade.

I was glad to see that both Obama and McCain were more ready to throw down this time, and when you actually listened to McCainapos;s message he did have a lot of good points. But that means actually thinking about the meaning to his words, and Iapos;ve been around both Liberals and Conservatives enough to know that people donapos;t. They want things to be spelled out for them, and the only thing spelled out was Joe the Plumber.

McCain really did need to tackle Obamaapos;s idea of "spreading the wealth", but in a much better manner. Begin with how you supposedly start small, build up your own business, and when you finally become a success the government comes in and says "Congratulations, as a reward for your hard work weapos;re going to give your money to people that put less effort into their daily lives". BAM Thatapos;s the way to put it, and thatapos;s how even Blue Collar Bob can understand it. When people think of the rich, they think of people like Donald Trump. McCain needs to give a realistic image that it can be you a few years from now whose hard work is rewarded by your money being given to people that didnapos;t have the willpower or smarts to get where you are.

McCain also started well with Roe vs. Wade by mentioning that it was all about power of the states, but he then began talking about he himself being a pro-lifer, and exclaimed "pro-abortionists", which just sounds negative and is going to turn anyone that is pro-choice off. He had good reasons for wanting to overturn Roe v. Wade, but his wording ended up dragging the focus outside of where it needed to be.

As for education, Iapos;m not sure either of them can really do this country well. I did find some humor when Obama said "every young person that wants to go to College should be able to go". Instantly my mind went to Bioshock, where the utopia of Rapture was open for the rich, and where "anyoneapos;s dreams can come true". Problem is, someone still needs to clean the toilets, and in a utopia of only upper class, all of a sudden you get a lower and middle class, and people discover they were happier on the surface. Same thing can happen with College. Too many people going, and no oneapos;s getting jobs. "Oh, but companies are putting jobs over seas, and thatapos;s why Obama is trying to punish companies that hand the jobs to other countries". Too bad those jobs donapos;t require a College education, hence their going over seas.

It was a good debate, and I continue to favor McCain. Unfortunately, because of Obamaapos;s charisma, I believe heapos;ll win. Not because heapos;s the better one for the job, or because heapos;s got great ideas, or anything like that. Letapos;s face it, people want Obama to win simply because heapos;s black, young and a well spoken democrat. Thatapos;s where the tragedy of this election lies. Itapos;s just like all this environmentalism crap. I have no problem with people trying to figure out better energy sources and all that, I just wish it was for the right reasons.

In other news, after a talk with Aubrey last night, I came to a realization that I should have no political opinion on abortion. Personally, I am pro-life, and I very much feel it is right to be pro-life. However, the vast majority of my reasons for being pro-life are emotion based, and therefore have no place in politics. So, while I have no problem telling people why I personally am pro-life, I will not get into a political debate.

I still believe calling it an issue of womenapos;s rights is over-simplification and absolute bunk, though.

So really, can you hang up your phones? Really - just because itapos;s been a couple of months doesnapos;t mean you can hold your phones again. Just like uhm, using your blinker, itapos;s sort of mandatory to put the damn thing down now. Itapos;s starting to become a serious point of anger for me. I just donapos;t understand why people canapos;t do the right thing when driving. Driving is an activity. That means you should be active. That means you donapos;t coast. That means you should let me pass you. That means you shouldnapos;t read your newspaper, text on your phone or talk to your friend in New Jersey. It means you should use your car to get where you are going and then do whatever else you need to do. I just donapos;t understand how people can be so inconsiderate. I mean, what is so wrong with me wanting to go fast? Why is it so damn hard for you to take 5 seconds and turn your wheel and get in the lane so I can pass you? Donapos;t you understand it is actually a passing lane, not a fast lane? That means, you should drive right. That means, if the lane to the right of you is empty, you should go there. This is seriously not rocket science folks. I think you should have to renew your license with a super duper test every other year. Driving is a priveledge, not a right folks. Either start participating or take the damn bus. No matter what, can you please just get the hell out of my way?

Oh, I had a blast at work today. I swear this is the best job Iapos;ve ever had. Basically I ghost and stage computers. Then I repack them, label them, and send them to the mail room. Our group has to cover 20 computers a day, which isnapos;t a problem at all between the four of us. And while working on them we have tons of socializing time. XD Though, I tend to not talk much while Iapos;m working because I get to concentrating so hard. And ghosting works itself for about 15 minutes. Merging during staging takes about 15 minutes as well. So thatapos;s 30 minutes that I have to figure out something else to do. We usually try to do multiple computers at once. I predict weapos;ll probably get more than 20 computers done a day.

I actually find this job to be a lot of fun because itapos;s all routine. I just do the same thing over and over again. I like jobs like that, though.

I work Mon-Fri from 8am to 5pm. Iapos;m off on Saturday and Sunday. So yay that means I wonapos;t be working on my birthday this weekend. XD

Everyone that I work with is very friendly and kind. One of the girls is full blooded Hawaiian. Sheapos;s an absolute darling. Her name is Malia and she has the most beautiful hazel/amber eyes Iapos;ve ever seen in my life. Sheapos;s just recently moved to the area so she was asking a lot of questions about where things were located and what not. I like listening to her talk. =D She ate lunch with me, which surprised me. XD I have a feeling she and I will be good buddies at the workplace.

But yeah, as you can see Iapos;m very excited about my job and Iapos;m looking forward to the rest of the week.

I was trying to get Autumn dressed and she was dead-set on it not happening. All my specious reasons, like "You gotta wear pants" or "Good girls like pants" fell on deaf and defiant toddler ears. So finally I said "Fine You donapos;t want to wear them on your legs then how about on your head?" figuring Iapos;d show her the absurdities of her ways.

Autumn said "Ok."

Not wanting to have to backtrack, or show weakness, I said "Fine"

So currently she is happily running around the house with her pants on her head...
